Results from horror questionnaire
What are your top three favourite horror films?
What feelings and emotions do you expect from a horror film?
The results that I collected from the audience, have given me a really good understanding of what they might expect from our media product, in terms of emotions and sub-genres. The results have showed me what films our target audience enjoy watching, for example 'Paranormal Activity' and 'Shutter Island'. This means that I can research these films and let them inspire me with creating our horror opening.

Brainstorm idea's for Institution names
Above you can see our brainstorm for institution names. As a group we created a big list of different institution names, and chose these names out of the list. The reasons why we chose these 8 institution names to pick from, is because we thought these are all closely related to the horror genre of our film opening and that they all sound scary and spooky.
You can see below the brainstorm our audience survey. We created this survey because we wanted to know which name members of the public liked most, so we could choose one which many people liked. We asked 13 people which name they liked the most from the list and the most popular by far was 'PARANORMAL PICTURES', so we decided to use this name for our institution company.

Final preliminary task and evaluation
During the process of making our prelim task, I experimented with filming, editing and directing. I learnt how to film different shots such as match on action and shot reverse shot. Experienced teachers and other group members taught me how to film properly and accurately. Each member of our group got a chance to film the different scenes with the camera. This will help us when we film our final horror opening, as we have more knowledge and understanding of filming.
We used the editing program Final cut on the apple macs to edit our prelim. When using the program I found it difficult knowing where the different controls were, but after a short period of time on the program, I got more confident with it. After using final cut for our prelim, we decided to use final cut to edit our horror opening. This is because the program has many different features which make it easy to work with, such as large range of transitions and a clear layout with useful tools. Using the program when editing the prelim, has given me and my group more understanding and experience with the program. This will make it quicker and easier for our group to edit the opening.
We each had a chance to be the director in the group, so that we had a bigger understanding of the role. I learnt that being the director is a very difficult but important role, as you have to be in charge of everything, having a good understanding of what you want the actors and crew members to do.
Overall I found the prelim task very fun but mostly helpful. It has given me a better understanding for what the final opening will be like and what me and my group need to accomplish to make it successful.

Alfred Hitchcock's life as a movie director
From this video of an interview with Hitchcock on youtube, I have learnt that he planned his films in lots of detail. He created his scenario very carefully and meaningful to suit the Horror genre. He would create unusual feelings felt in the audience, by including fairly un noticeable weird props and unusual things in his scenes. But it was all there for a reason. This has given me idea's for my final horror movie opening, as I will include not so obvious objects in the shots which link with the horror movie.
